Be YOU (And don't for get the TUTU)

Posted by Katie Plummer on

Hey there beautiful mamas! We are nearing the end of our first phase of #TheMotherhoodProject. Only two weeks left. Saving the best bits for last! Today we have three mamas features for you, and we are going over our favorite look from the shoot. So let start with the amazing mama that pulled the look off effortlessly. This is Jennine.

This gorgeous woman started her motherhood journey in 2008. She has 3 kiddos Jrue, who is 3, CJ, 5, and Hailey who is 8. As if that wasn't enough to keep this mama busy, she is also a nursing assistant, and currently going to school to become a nurse. Running, she said is her necessity to keep it all together. "I have to have my time to go running. Clear my head and breathe, and sweat it out." She also suggests, "hiding in the closet eating chocolate." Yep, I second that!

So let's talk about her absolutely fabulous looks! We styled her two ways to show the versatility of this amazing adult tutu from Tin and Ella. The first look is more simple and classy. The second is more fun and funky. Her hand painted, "bE YOU" black v-neck is made by HoneyBeeTrueCo. Both her sunglasses, and hipster glasses are from Fj & Co. Her pink resin rose earrings are made by HH&Co. Hand stamped bracelets are from MoxyJewerly. Her mud cloth clutch is made by The Modern Farm House Co. The rad rainbow tube socks are from PrideSocks. Her hair and makeup was done by Ashley, Urban Styles Spa and Salon

Let's talk more about this Tutu, and its amazing maker!
Tin and Ella is a premier tutu shop that opened in 2015, and is located in Phoenix, AZ. They meticulously create custom tutus by hand in three signature styles, and offer a limitless amount of colors. They make tutus for children, teens, and adults. All of the tutus can be fully customized. The woman behind the shop is Nicki. Nicki has two little girls, Tinley 4, and Stella 3. She loves to travel and Disney. Girl after my own heart.

Here is a piece of our Q&A with Nicki.

What does the word 'Motherhood' mean to you?
I want to pull my hair out. Haha. Motherhood is a long, amazing, journey of teaching, loving, hugging and wonderful years of learning myself. While it try not to pull out all my hair. It's the best time of life.

Did becoming a mom influence your decision to open your shop/businesses?
In a sense I guess it did. I wouldn't have started making tutus had I not had the girls.  So they helped me see that everyone needed my tutus.

What is your favorite thing about being a mom?
Watching me children teach me new things about life everyday. I have learned more from them in the 4 years they have been here, than my 29 years before they came.

What is your favorite thing about running your own shop/business?
Coming up with new an fun ideas. Most people would say being able to be home with their kids. And that IS nice. But trying to run a business while with me kids..... Not my fave.

Pick one thing that is an absolute necessity to you, in your day to day to life as a mother?
Music. I 100% have to have music.

One last mama we want to tell you about this week. Kierstin, owner of HH and Co. Hh and Co specializes in fabric button/resin jewelry, and accessories. It's also the home of the original wood-framed earrings. We got to use several of her pieces throughout our shoot and we loved them all! They have something for every style. A little boho + a little vintage + a little punk, and everything in between.

Kierstin started her business in 2012, and is located in New Jersey. She is a mother to 3 girls, all under the age of 6. Take a look at our Q&A with with Kierstin.

What does the word 'Motherhood' mean to you? Having unconditional & endless love, being a strong protector & a good role model, making sure my kids know how special they are & how much they're loved.

Did becoming a mom influence your decision to open your shop/businesses and why/how? Yes! I was already a SAHM before I started my business, but I had a lot of free time on my hands. I've always made jewelry for myself and my friends, so I figured I'd start a little business for extra gas money and to keep myself busy.

What is your favorite thing about being a mom? I love spending time with my girls & watching them grow into amazing humans. They're so much fun and they crack me up. Just having them around me makes me so happy.

What is your favorite thing about running your own shop/business? I'm a huge control freak, so making my own schedule and having the ability to run things the way that works best for me is everything.

Pick one thing that is an absolute necessity to you, in your day to day to life as a mother?  My husband! He is such a huge help. On days when I'm creating 100 pairs of earrings for a wholesale order, packing 25 Etsy orders and trying to order supplies, sometimes small things tend to get neglected {laundry, dishes, vacuuming}, but my husband doesn't complain one bit. He's right there at the sink, washing those dishes. Or he's down in the laundry room putting the wet towels in the dryer. He's amazing & I'm so grateful.
